Hot chicks

Aldcliffe news from Guy...

Promising lapwing chick count yesterday in the baking sun with further new, doubtless soggier, youngsters seen today.

Little-ringed plover chick engaging in short maiden flights today and the first returning post-breeding green sandpiper - quite an early date but not unprecedented.

Cheers for the updates Guy.

Summer is the shortest month in the birding calendar and has only really lasted a month. The green sand is my first bird of the autumn and judging by the spotted redshank at Conder and snipe at Walney return migration is underway. Can't wait for the prospect of a firecrest or YBW in Freemans!
