A 2nd-winter Mediterranean gull on the estuary was perhaps the best find in a somewhat brief late morning visit. One each of bar-tailed and black-tailed godwit were also noted on the mud.
Waders on the flood comprised two little ringed plovers and a single green sand. Ten adult pied wagtails were new here, but all were scattered by a swooping first plumage peregrine.
Three swifts were hunting over the marsh. A few red admirals were feeding in areas sheltered from the stiff breeze.
